How to Install Set Up Sunray SR4 (DM800SE Clone, Enigma2 Satellite Receiver)

Sunray SR4 is an Enigma2 Linux satellite receiver (clone Dreambox 800 SE, triple tuner DVB-S2 / DVB-C / DVB-T). Installation contains Hardware Connection → Flash Enigma2 Image → System Configuration → Tuner & Channel Scan.
⚠️ Legal Reminder: Only use for freely receivable unencrypted satellite signals. Unauthorized decryption of pay-TV violates local laws.

1. Hardware Installation (Step 1)

Required items

  • Sunray SR4 main unit, 12V power adapter
  • Satellite LNB coaxial cable (for DVB-S2) / TV antenna (DVB-T) / cable TV wire (DVB-C)
  • HDMI cable (connect to TV)
  • Ethernet cable / USB WiFi adapter
  • USB flash drive (FAT32 formatted, ≤32GB recommended, for firmware flashing)

Wiring steps

  1. Place the receiver in ventilated position; do not stack other devices on top (easy overheating).
  2. Connect your signal cable to corresponding tuner port:
    • Tuner A = DVB-S2 (satellite dish LNB)
    • Tuner B = DVB-T (terrestrial TV antenna)
    • Tuner C = DVB-C (cable television)
  3. Plug HDMI cable between SR4 HDMI port and TV HDMI input.
  4. Connect network:
    • Wired: RJ45 Ethernet port to router
    • Wireless: Insert compatible USB WiFi (Realtek RTL8712U works best for SR4)
  5. Insert power supply, DO NOT power on yet.

2. Flash Enigma2 Firmware (Critical Step)

Sunray SR4 needs a compatible Enigma2 image (OpenPLi, OpenViX, BlackHole, EGAMI; confirm SIM version: SIM2.10 / A8P before download).

Flash procedure via USB

  1. Format USB drive to FAT32, create folder dm800se
  2. Extract downloaded image files into dm800se folder (bootargs.bin, rootfs.bin, uImage)
  3. Plug USB into front USB port of SR4
  4. Power on the box, keep pressing front panel power button until OLED shows UPDATING
  5. Wait 3–8 minutes. Do NOT cut power during flashing!
  6. Receiver auto reboots after finish; remove USB stick.
If flash fails: Use rear service mini USB + DreamUp software via PC for recovery.

3. First Boot Basic Configuration

  1. Select your language, timezone, video resolution (1080i / 720p for HDMI).
  2. Network setup:
    • Ethernet: Enable DHCP to obtain IP automatically
    • WiFi: Menu → Setup → Network → Wireless, select SSID & input password
  3. Check system info: Menu → Information → About to confirm image & SIM compatibility.

4. Satellite Tuner Configuration (DVB-S2)

  1. Menu → Setup → Channel Search → Tuner Configuration
  2. Select Tuner A (Satellite):
    • Configuration Mode: Advanced
    • Choose your target satellite (e.g. Astra 19.2E, Hotbird 13E)
    • LNB Settings:
      • Universal LNB: LOF Low 9750, LOF High 10600, Switch 11700
    • If using DiSEqC switch: Enable DiSEqC 1.0 / 1.1 and assign port number
  3. Save settings.

5. Scan TV Channels

  1. Menu → Setup → Channel Search → Automatic Scan
  2. Select configured satellite/tuner
  3. Start scan; wait for transponders & services detection
  4. After scan, channels appear in channel list.

6. Common Post-install Tips

  1. Install plugins: Menu → Plugins → Download plugins (EPG, media player, IPTV player)
  2. Internal 2.5” SATA HDD: Mount hard drive, enable timeshift & recording
  3. Remote access: Enable OpenWebif to control receiver via browser on PC/phone
  4. Overheating fix: Ensure airflow; avoid closed small cabinets

Troubleshooting

  • No signal: Check coaxial cable, LNB alignment, tuner parameter LOF values
  • WiFi not detected: Use RTL8712U chipset USB WiFi; many other chipsets are unsupported
  • Boot loop: Re-flash matching Enigma2 image for your SIM version
  • No picture: Double-check TV HDMI input source, set correct video output mode
